Epistemological Transformation
in the Digital Age

The AI & Digital Transformation Office of Istanbul Medeniyet University moves the university's knowledge production and transfer processes to a new ontological ground.

The higher education ecosystem is experiencing a global "Convergent Crisis". The exponential speed of technology, changing workforce demands, and new learner profiles force universities into not just a "technical" but a "cultural" transformation. Our office turns this crisis into an opportunity, aiming to base our university's digital maturity on a pedagogical foundation and close the "Implementation Gap" between the vision in strategic documents and classroom practice.

At the center of this transformation lies the philosophy of "Cognitive Partnership". For us, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not a substitute replacing the academician, but a lever that takes over routine and mechanical loads (data classification, literature review, etc.), opening space for true human faculties like "creativity," "critical synthesis," and "ethical reasoning."

Holistic Activity Approach

Our office conducts its activities on three main axes that feed each other. First, in the field of Next-Gen Pedagogy, we structure instructional designs interactively with IDEAL and IDIUL models.

Second, in AI-Supported Research processes, we increase the methodological competencies of our researchers. From literature discovery to publication strategy, AI is a research partner that increases the speed and quality of scientific production at every stage.

Third and critical area, we manage Quality Assurance and Learning Analytics processes. Although this area is currently in preparation, our vision is clear: To monitor educational quality instantly with Data-Driven Monitoring systems, not just surveys. Thanks to learning analytics, we detect students at academic risk early, measure curriculum effectiveness with evidence-based data, and implement the "Continuous Improvement" cycle.

The ultimate goal of all these efforts is to prepare our graduates for the future with a "T-Shaped Human" profile. Individuals who are deep in their own discipline (vertical) but can ethically manage AI and digital tools (horizontal) will be the leaders of the future.
